Meet Dr. Tyler May

Heber City Dentist

Dr. Tyler May understands that going to the dentist can be accompanied with a little bit of anxiety. This is because he vividly recalls his fear of going to the dentist himself. It wasn’t until he had graduated from Wasatch High that he decided to pursue a career in dentistry. “Because of the fear I had, I am always trying to make sure the patient is comfortable and possibly enjoying themselves”.

In 2005 Dr. May married his sweetheart Sunni, and they set off for dental school in 2007 at The Ohio State University. After graduating in 2011, they moved to Amarillo Texas to practice for two years and then moved back to Utah to work in Salt Lake City. During this time, Dr. May was able to study more closely the area of endodontics, implants and oral surgery by spending time at specialty offices, attending mini-residencies, and taking continuing education courses.

Dr. May acquired TimberRidge Dental in 2015 and will always be grateful for the opportunity to come back to Heber City to practice dentistry. As the saying goes, “if you enjoy what you do then you will never work another day in your life.” This is how Dr. May would describe how he feels about doing dentistry and having such a wonderful team to work with. Dr. May is a Heber City dentist that cares about his community and enjoys taking part in community events.

If you were to see Dr. May outside of the office, you might see him with his wife and children running the river, mountain biking, or snowboarding. “Some of my most enjoyable times are when I get to be out with my kids enjoying these activities.”

Our services

Root Canals

A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is infected. During the root canal procedure, the nerve is removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Once this treatment is completed the next process may be a crown. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become worse and may result in more complications.
Extractions - Teeth Removal - Pulled Teeth in Heber City, UT

Extractions

Although permanent teeth were meant to last a lifetime, there are a number of reasons why teeth may need to be extracted. Consult with Dr. May to learn about your options.
Crown - Heber City Dentist- Dental Crowns

Crowns

A tooth is prepared for a crown by removing a small amount of tooth from the top and sides of it followed by an impression. While you wait for your permanent crown, a temporary crown will be fitted to your tooth. Crowns are a way to protect teeth and build them back up.
Implants in Heber City, UT

Implants

A natural tooth has two part: The crown which is visible above the gum line, and the root which anchors the tooth through the gum. When you lose a tooth, you lose both elements. The Implant acts as the root and after it has healed, an impression is taken for the crown.

FAQs

Regular dental visits are important because they can help spot dental health problems early on when treatment is likely to be less invasive and more affordable. Regular visits also help prevent many problems from developing in the first place. Dr. May recommends a minimum of two visits per year.

Dental x-rays are very safe. The amount of radiation that a dental x-ray produces is less than what is produced by a cell phone. We recommend getting x-rays twice a year to detect cavities in the early stages.

Soft-bristled tooth brushes are best for removing plaque and debris from your teeth without injuring the teeth and gums. Small-headed brushes are also preferable, since they can better reach all areas of the mouth, including hard-to-reach back teeth. Your tooth brush should be replaced every 3-4 months.

The dentist or hygienist will ask about your recent medical history, examine your mouth and decide what x-rays are best for you. Dr. May will evaluate your overall dental health and conduct an oral cancer screening. After your comprehensive exam, our office staff will present you with a custom treatment plan.

Yes, when taken in the appropriate doses. Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to sugar. Fluoride can also help reverse cavities in the early stages.

Unfortunately, not every cavity will give us symptoms of pain, but treating the cavity early on can prevent teeth from needing more extensive treatment like Root canals or extractions.

Keeping baby teeth healthy is very important for the health of your little ones. Baby Teeth can actually get infected when not treated resulting in the tooth needing to be removed. When a child loses a tooth, it complicates how the permanent tooth will come into the mouth.

If you know you are prone to dental-related anxiety, having a relaxation plan in place when you come in for an appointment is key to maximizing your comfort. To help relax our patients we have overhead TVs, laughing gas, and an anesthesiologist that can be scheduled for your visit.

Our office accepts most insurance plans, please call our office or your insurance carrier to find out. No insurance? No worries, we offer an in-house membership for as low as $24 a month.

For your convenience we work with different lending companies, they offer low minimum monthly payment options so you can get what you want, when you want it. Find out today which one is right for you. Care Credit, Prosper program, and Lending Club.
